my why

I discovered my love for illustration while working on a graphic design project, and soon thereafter fell down the rabbit hole of surface pattern design.

As a lifelong sewist and maker, discovering the limitless potential of designing my own surface patterns was an eye-opener.  I love creating designs knowing they will brighten someone’s day when they see it.

I’m also an eternal pragmatic. Having artwork that is rendered functional when printed on clothes, stationery and home decor, brings me a deep sense of happiness!

Inspiration

My artwork is typically inspired by the food I eat and grow, as well as the things I find beautiful & intriguing when I ramble about outdoors. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, sewing, hiking & reading. These hobbies often inspire my artwork.

As you may have noticed, I’ve got a soft spot for anthropomorphizing food too! I’m always imagining what a pet is thinking, or putting myself in the shoes of others, even when those are seemingly inaminate things!

I love to draw just about anything that makes me laugh or smile and I hope my work will get you to crack a smile too

my how

While I began drawing my illustrations digitally, I now enjoy creating artwork in a variety of mediums.

I generally draw on my tablet or on paper, and then vectorize my drawings to create motifs that I design patterns with.

When I want to unwind, I paint with watercolours and then use these to create art prints as well as motifs for some of my patterns.

I also greatly enjoy also using foraged elements to create layers and textures for my patterns.
